Electrolytic Tinplate is cold-rolled steel built up in six distinct layers: a base steel core, a tin-iron alloy bond coat, a pure tin layer for corrosion resistance, a tin oxide barrier, a hydrated chromium oxide passivation layer, and a surface oil film for handling protection. Together, these layers give tinplate its signature combination of corrosion resistance, clean surface finish, and consistent formability — making it the standard substrate for food and beverage cans, aerosol containers, paint cans, and industrial packaging.
